It happened every Christmas eve
As stars gleamed down
And moon glowed with tenderness
Softly whispered
On the silence of the night
Breathless joy, flavored in hope
Brought alive by the wonder
Of this Christmas Eve
A little tree glimmered
Lit by crimson and emerald
Dressed up in silver icicles
Worn by branches so dazzling
They seemed to erase every fear
Whisper giving through the ornaments
Glazed with inspiration and peace
Laughing like kindness dancing
Through hearts who believe
In this babe in a manger
This light to all creation
This night when we await
The celebration of our King
Gifts were wrapped in pretty paper
Hues of sparkling gold and scarlet
Graced with ribbons in vivid shades
All threaded together beneath the tree
Where giggling cousins sat waiting
The moment when these presents
Would be given out to each member
Of a family blended with hope and faith
Shining smiles moistened by grace
As hearts raced, enthusiastic and elated
By the moments of festive spirits
Filled with kindness and exhilaration
Joy reflected from souls who know
The One who we celebrate is pure love
As the gifts were distributed
The merriment collected on thoughts
And cheer penetrated the heart
Where we all knew the meaning of
Christmas is more than pretty ribbons
Presents and trees and festiveness
The meaning of Christmas is found
In the heart who has complete faith
In the One who came to bring each one
A second chance, a new hope, a love
That would pour out a sparkling joy
Lighting the entire world with His glory!
The Christmas memory that captivates
My heart - still… is the love that came down
When this child first shared His spirit
The spirit of Christmas is here with us
Living inside every soul who believes sincerely!
