Inspired by Blue (1927) Kandinsky what distance could be covered in the absence of gravitational tug would sleep render us exquisite and unharmed fighting battles, falling in and out of love bathed in amnesia confabulating our entire existence from a single second of taking in our surroundings is it necessary to wake at all for this journey can happen behind closed eyes - experience replaced by electrical charges documented in a far off observation point not dissimilar to our own mind abandoned as a construct most likely due to useless repetition but I can't help it I'm bound to open my eyes fill my mind, lungs ~ let every inch of my humanity hum paint myself stark against black and most definitely linger as I'm unduly drawn to your all encompassing presence yours truly red

Is it necessary to wake at all! I often ask myself that very question, especially after a dream that was way too good, the subconscious mind is powerful, but the call of consciousness even more so; love the concept and duality at play here, you give Kandinsky’s work, possibly more real life meaning than it actually asks for, another super Ekphrasis from Dilly Dally, cheers David

Thanks David :) this same idea is spanning over several poems now and it's quite interesting to see if I generate any new sparks or keep circling the concept. It's fascinating stuff though and Kandinsky really got me thinking, even with this very understated painting. I certainly amused myself turning it into a love letter lol. Oh my gosh! What even? “ yours truly red” now thats new! You really have a unique way of expressing and writing and this is an interesting prompt, i will probably write very dark if ever lol. You wrote yours in such a graceful manner with such brilliant and intriguing metaphors. “ is it necessary to wake at all for this journey can happen behind closed eyes ” love that, one of those quotes that would do well in tshrt business, sometimes its better to walk through life with closed eyes, but with an open heart, let heart lead the mind, .. i also thought your use of amnesia there is clever! This is one of those unique takes , so very different and impressive! “documented in a far off observation point not dissimilar to our own mind“ love that. We see and perceive things from what we are from within. Has a philosophical touch to it! Youv nailed it really! Pleasure reading this! Best wishes for the contest.

Haha i made myself laugh as I wrote "yours truly red" I'm still laughing about it now :) I had a lovely time reading about Kandinsky. At first I thought the painting was a planet conjunction, but apparently not. Then I just got carried along with gravity and consciousness. Thank you for fun comment :)

I really enjoyed reading about the painter. They focus a lot on geometry - those concepts are new to me and I'm definitely going to read up on it more :)

Yep, that was the punch line, lol The dominant blue color in the painting symbolizes spirituality and infinity, a key aspect of Kandinsky's color theory, I read.

Thanks Anaya - I'm not sure it's what the sponsor intended but I'm following my own advice and enjoying writing for contests. Probably is an unexpected angle, I even surprised myself haha "yours truly red" is just too funny :) thanks for the good luck wishes x
