It's now, October, twenty-one; it seems this year had just begun with hopes that days would better be before its span is over, done. But, times seem worse, most must agree: with vaccine mandates, we're not free to make a choice- be wrong or right; not bound by government decree. So many workers now must fight; unvaccinated, face their plight of losing jobs because of stay to honor choice as their birthright. How many more, on this pathway of mandates ordered will betray the freedoms of democracy- now that they've opened this doorway? You raise a very valid question, while I believe everyone who is able should get the vaccine, I'm not sure if a government mandate is the right path - also a very well written poem, congratulations~

Congrats on your win and thanks for sharing your views. We have sixteen in our ICU who are Covid positive and struggling. some as young as twenty five. The vaccinated have done well and getting better. unvaccinated are struggling. we have lost tragically a few who were denying the virus. I have had my three jabs, and have been in the hospital right in the middle of Covid and never caught it. Some health workers who got the disease before the vaccine, died. So I strongly believe in the vaccine.

Thank you for this great poem. Why should unvaccinated lose their jobs, when vaccinated people get the virus and pass it too? 75 % of Vermont cases of covid are vaccinated! 90+ outbreaks are in New Hampshire in vaccinated nursing homes , correction facilities etc. Besides, it is proven to have NOTHING to do with our health. Millions of illegals coming across our border are NOT required to be vaccinated. I hope all is well in these rough times :)

Thank you for stopping by and reading my poem, Heidi! As my poem indicates, I am 100% with you and your supportive sentiments. So many vaccinated people are getting Covid anyway- it has all be so confusing. And your last sentence about those crossing our border having different rules- that is unacceptable!!! All is well here, except for the mental stress for fear of the unknowns! Hugs, Sandra

Your views are well-taken in this poem, Sandra, even though I disagree with them. Sometimes individual freedoms must be set aside for the good of the community. We do that all the time, for example, smoking. You do not have the right to smoke in a public place because it endangers the health of everyone in that place. We give up our right to comfort when seatbelts are mandated, too. If we are going to defeat this virus everyone must cooperate for the well-being of everyone else, IMHO.
