Notes About The Poem

Home Is a Burning Flame

“Home is a Burning Flame”
Align yourself with the belief that HOME will come to you in the end You can see yourself in her eyes, but you are not there She must follow her own flame Barefoot over broken glass and rusty nails Tender Moorings is your Heart One day she will understand her revolving door journey Until that time arise Keep the burning fire alive The warmth it emanates She will carry to be brave. "HOME" Is a Burning Flame. (Lovejoy-Burton/March 2018) For my Mother 18/9 d. I see you, I hear you. For my Daughter 18/9 b. Do you see me, do you hear me? "I am my mother's daughter."

The lyrics could mean many different things to many different people. Take it as you will. We're all looking for the higher love, in one form or another.

Leanne, 'Home' is a burning flame of love in a Mother's heart that never dies and never ceases to be a beacon in the dark to welcome a child back to her bosom. When I was done being rebellious, I found my way back home to that eternal flame my Mother kept vigil over.. waiting for me. It was the best feeling in the world when I allowed myself to bask in her warmth. I never knew I'd miss her until I missed her and was glad to find her waiting for me. Your poem brings back memories that taught me about true love. Your heartfelt plea and imagery is beautifully deep, poignant and amazing. Belated congrats on POTW and like me, Georgia will find her way back 'Home'.. Warmest wishes and a fave, my friend. ~Susan

All true poets and romantics have that sense of rebellion. Georgia, will find her way home, whether I am here or not, she will learn, just as my sisters and I did...as, have others, the true significance of Home and Mother (for my other dear friend here who is on the other flip side of the coin - of Home and Father). Of course, one could argue that not all mothers are good. Not all fathers are good. This can be true in some cases. Not in the majority. Home is where the heart is and Home is where we are all heading. Much LOVE to you, friend. Leanne x

Oft, I find the images words create are even more powerful than actual images seen with ones eyes. You write with heart, depth and power. And that passion is beauty and wisdom exhibited by a true poet's soul. A fav...

That is very kind of you Robert. All the best of peace and joy to you and your family this Easter and always. I shall go and read your stories now. It is hard to read everyone's stories/poems, as there are so so many poets and stories to read here. So glad you stopped by. Leanne

I trust my instincts...When I first read you...I felt the power of your pen...It's a survival thing... and kept an eye out to read... Once you decide the brew...I know...you'll be cooking...All the best Lovejoy...

I've been reeled in of recent times by your evolving style/s, Agent Arturo. I will continue to emerse myself into what appears to be on the surface calm waters, but more than likely very deep but not still. Thank you as always for your kind comments. I am in dire need of refinement, where poetry is concerned.

Congratulations on POTW Leanne. I am a parent so naturally this poem resonates with me. We teach them to fly. We can't expect them to stay. They will return occasionally to refuel their hearts and ours. Lovely poem!

Agent Turner, we are all children at some stage so on reflection, thankfully, I have the knowledge of my own rebelliousness as a teenager and young adult to fall back on and will wait for my daughter's return stories. I now empathise with a lot of other empty nesters. Thank you for your kind observation, which I have taken into my mind and heart. Our children forge their own lives inevitably, just as we did. I am on my journey now as well. The doors are wide open for me to explore areas I have missed out on during the 18 year adventure with Georgia as a single mother. Kind of exciting and a little sad at the same time. Bittersweet. :)

If you do not see the paintings on the POTW, be sure to go to Leanne's page. I usually don't get pictures on the POTD or W pages. My children all roamed away, but now they are close. They can be in the same town with you and still "go" and "return." I know the agony of their absence and thankfulness of their returns. Lovely, lovely poetry.

Thank you Sunlite. I can't bear to see a page without colour. x One day Georgia will have all these stories to show her children, should she so decide to follow that path. Your words are reassuring, but not all stories have happy endings and that is life. My daughter will find her way back home to me in her own time. Mothers and Daughters, a beautiful complex relationship for most, that should be so simple. Time is short. Very. Should I not be around, the stories are here for her.

Nothing more heartfelt then a mother's plea Leyanne. I really feel for you my friend. Home is where the Heart is and the Journey starts and stops there. Patience is the Key I guess. A poignant poem that pulls at the heart strings, accompanied with beautiful images and interesting choice of song. Enjoyed and a fave....Maria xx

We all make mistakes, we are all revolutionary at some point in our lives. I was extremely revolutionary when I was in my teens. We all make mistakes and wrong decisions on our journey, that is the only way we can learn and find ourselves. I have always been about 'Freedom'. I love my daughter unconditionally, she has as much freedom as she requires now. My daughter, like all children (and they all do in some way and at some point in their lives, eventually as adults), will return "Home", when she is meant to, at which point I will be here in some form or other. Thank you for your support and friendship Maria. It is highly valued. x

Maybe wisdom speaking from another realm...through my words. There are powers and forces in our lives that are much bigger than we will ever understand. This poem may be one of them. Everyone needs to burn that flame even brighter with all the blackness in the world at present. Not that wise it would appear, there is a lesson in this poem for me as much as anyone else.

We all find the flame eventually. Whether we are aware of it or not, we all hold the flame within us. How bright it burns, depends where we are in our journey and who needs to see it.

Like they say home is where the heart is, the flame flickers, yet sometimes it is fragile.. we can travel the world, we can go to another city, but all paths lead back to home.. Sometimes we just need to be patient...

Hi LLB I like the Paintings and the message inside these paintings. Are u painter also? You have written very deep. Home is a burning flame and she must follow her flame. "if you find me not inside you , you will never find me. For i have been with you, from the beginning of me. " A beautiful and deep message. This is by true love only. My Favorite Thanks

Very deep. Perhaps a voice of love and wisdom speaks from the Luminiferous Aether, through the mother and daughter.
