Tania Kitchin's Holiday Humor Limerick Contest   October 31, 2024

l

Holidays are coming; the first is near Halloween is a night that many fear But the bravest ones boast "I'm not afraid of ghosts!" Until eerily haunting cries they hear. There's feasting on November's holiday Giving thanks for our blessings, we pray But I burned the turkey So, we ate beef jerky On a table set in splendid array Christmas; the holiday season of mirth Jen partied until the time she gave birth There was too much good cheer We drank three kegs of beer On New Year's Day, not a cent were we worth

Well, I would have said ‘back with congrats’ but it seems my previous comment went AWOL. So… it’s plain simple ‘congrats’ on your first place win ;-)

Great trio of limericks! Yes, we can be brave until the first “boo.” Beef jerky at a lovely set table…partying until the day “she gave birth”

Dear Lin, What great limericks pointing at the highs and lows of the holidays. I always loved the Christmas Vacation movie where the Turkey is burnt to a crisp. Good Luck in the contest for you have a winner! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Thanks, Daniel. I love writing Limericks... about anything! I've never burned a turkey but the first one I cooked on my own was when I was 17. I didn't know the giblets and yucky stuff were inside the neck opening. It gave everyone something to laugh about when we sat down, and Dad started carving. I've never forgotten to remove that stuff again!

Thanks for your well wishes, Sam. These were such fun to write. I had all three written and then realized they were supposed to be humorous, so I had to do them all again.

I just thought, "Why use only one when Tania is allowing 3?" Thanks, Tom.
