His Star-Dusted Desire

He wonders at the aphrodisiac of her jasmine air stirring the breeze of his being heady in the breathy mood of her moon garden amidst stargazer’s pink whispers and he wishes that his jonquil heart be quenched by her sweet drink - as he longs to sip sun-ripened nectar from the calla of her wild plum dreams Susan Ashley July 4, 2018 ~ Second Place ~ Contest: Any Poem You Want To Write 180 Words Or Less Sponsor: Caren Krutsinger ~ Ninth Place ~ Contest: Premiere No. 160 Sponsor: Brian Strand Poet's notes: * the Jonquil flower represents desire, especially, the reciprocation of one's feelings of desire and love back in return* *the Calla Lily represents magnificent feminine beauty and delicacy* *the Wild Plum represents feminine youthfulness. Also, it represents sweet anticipation of the promise of romance one has waited for*

1st half blew me away with astounding, quite clear, imagery; such beautiful words delivered feeling that stirred my definite feeling in return. My ignorance on jonquil's meaning slid things a bit for me from there, but that's on me! Its continued beauty was apparent, but to me jonquil currently means a poem band-aid (is explaining myself making it worse?) Missed you, life has lacked alone/Soup time for a couple of months now for a multitude of reasons, did this happen to your Libra-self? Cay.

Dear CayCay, it's so wonderful to hear from you, your presence has been missed. I'm pleased you enjoyed the imagery in my poem as I used flower symbolism to express my ideas.. I used the 'jonquil' flower to represent his heart that longs for reciprocation of his love and desire from his beloved. I had removed the notations when I entered it into a contest and forgot to replace the notes afterward. I have re-posted the notes.. I hope my explanation is helpful.. Now it's my turn, please explain to me what you meant by a 'poem band-aid'..? I have no idea.. I'm glad to see you back my lovely friend.. ~Susan

Hello Dear Susan, I must say that you are truly a supreme romanticist in every respect. I find everything you write and post about to always be quite refreshing. "His Star-Dusted Desire" is another case in point as to what I've been alluding to. "Her wild plum dreams" -- eh?? Love it. Keep writing and having fun at it!! Best Always, Gary

Hello dear Gary, thank you for your beautiful and prized words of appreciation for my poetry. I wanted to express my thoughts in this poem with flower symbolism so the 'wild plum' represents both her youthfulness and his sweet anticipation of the promise of romance that he's been waiting for.. I'm so happy you enjoyed my poem my dear friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan
