I fell on my knees
Laid my face in my palms
Tears streamed down my cheeks
Worry had a hold of my heart
Nothing seemed to bring peace
And I couldn’t find any relief
“God, please help me”
The only words I could say
A prayer simple and complete
Feelings filled with sensitivity
Needs that rested on His grace
The only way that I could be
Sure that He would ease my mind
Comfort my heart and soul
Wipe the tears from my face
And fill me up with joy and hope
I fell to my knees
Doubts racing to my mind
Coloring me in hues of sorrow
Bleak as a wintery night
I fell to my knees
Suffering beyond what words reveal
Laying it all on the floor for Him
The One whose love I yearned to feel
I fell to my knees
Silence surrounding my thoughts
The crimson flow of His lifegiving blood
Washing me in a flood, an anointing
Rivers of living water – compassion
Faith, hope and love beyond my dreams
Blessing me with a grace so thick
It covered me up like a heavy quilt
I fell to my knees
Burning with neediness, craving
The source of all His joy
Love that lives because He died
And rose again to give this world
A second chance, a new life
The end to all sorrow and strife
I fell to my knees
Buried under His thick covering
Blood that sprinkles blessed faith
Suffering born on wings of grace
Lighting the heart who harbors hate
So that all it can feel is pure praise
I fell to my knees
Dejected and alone, mourning
I came up new and certain
That I’d been given the answer
To every worry or fear
The answer is alive, living inside
And His name is Jesus Christ
I went down a sinner
And came up forgiven
I went down lost
And came up found
I went down with a burden
And I came up with a plan
Now that I belong to my Savior
I will spend eternity praising Him!
