Heartbroken
The most profound depth of her desire
faded and died
without notice or warning
leaving me a heartbroken cold footnote
on the final page of our love
the word goodbye
was never spoken, only implied
by her silence
bursting my heart like a bubble
drifting on the wind
dripping pain from its last moment of existence
on my soul
that's now a hermit
trapped in the rags of yesterday
lost in the desert of loneliness
beneath a black sky without stars
where a shadowed solitude washes my face
in the timeless sand of my windblown footprints
leading to nowhere, carrying pictures of her
as they appear in my mind's lost dreams
where I collapse with my head tilted
against my heart's broken wall
crying in silence
over a world that's gone forever
I stretch my empty pained heart
towards the unknown
in hopes of grasping a lingering light
to heal my heartbroken soul
