Happily It's Not Far Away

It's cold and rainy outside The leaves are falling to the ground The approach of another winter Has me feeling down Had too many being Canadian It was exciting in my younger years But sure can't wait till spring When we don't have to cover our ears Some guys who play winter sports Say, “Get out and enjoy yourself” Rather sit by a roaring fire Recalling the joy I once felt Thankfully it's only 3 months long Happily it's not far away We'll once again revel in the sunshine Enjoying a happy spring day © Jack Ellison 2013

I feel sorry for you guys. I live in a Mediterranean region where the weather is temperate all year round. Never either extremely hot or extremely cold. I've never seen snow in my life but I can live comfortably without. Nice one, Jack. A warm hug to last you all through winter. Licia xoxoxox

I am a reformed Utah snow skier. I abhor the snow now. I like the mellow, sunny winters of the southwest the most ! You always paint such a detailed picture. Good one :)

I love the colder weather, I hate the extreme heat of summer, too hot, and all spring does is bring this heat to me! I've suffered enough in Texas while going through their summers that I look so forward to autumn, then winter! Snow is beautiful, ok ice isn't much fun, but snow is right? Thanks for enlightening me that winter is near, you put a smile on my face though you didn't intent for it! What a fabulous piece, Great Work!!

Just proves extremes at both ends are not what us humans want... a moderate temp all year round would be ideal! Thanks once again Russell for dropping by with your comment... you are a loyal friend!

My parents spent summers in Branson by a lake and winters in Phoenix, Arizona. They could continue to play golf all winter long... ride the motorcycles, ect... Sun City is a retirement mecca for snow birds... but the summer's are brutally hot... By the end of the summer the cold water comes out hot! Really!...

Jack: My sentiments exactly and well put. Winter's not too bad here near Seattle. Coldest ever for me was -55° in Regina, with wind chill -75°. Check out the quatrain I just wrote. Your Friend, Mark

Those guys out there on the plains can have it! My brother-in-law who lives in Alberta says, "it's cold but it's a dry cold!" It's STILL freaking cold! At least here in Southern Ontario, it's more moderate although there are usually a couple of days it's below zero F. Going now to check out your quatrain! Cheers, my friend!

I, myself, would rather sit by a warm fire, point & laugh at this who can't walk because they hurt themselves playing Winter Rugby or something. =) But, call me weird. Great job on this!!!
