Haiku X 6

a bolt of lightning
strikes decaying dried out trees ~
wildfire imminent

trees shedding their leaves
that now adorn the landscape ~
natures tapestry

dried up river bed
drought has removed all moisture ~
a jigsaw puzzle

the earth is dying
doomsday clock is near midnight ~
man's stupidity

waves lapping the shore
reaching a crescendo ~
ocean symphony

a gazelle gives birth
newborn fawn tries to stand up ~
predators watching

Dear Tom, I enjoyed the striking imagery in your lustrous strand of Haiku. Each one is a gem with a different mood yet unified by Nature's impressive beauty. I especially loved the image of the dried up river bed as a jigsaw puzzle - quite dazzling! Warmest wishes, my friend, and I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend.. ~Susan

The last one is so sad. It is the way of nature. For one to survive another must be sacrificed so that the others have food. The mother and the herd in some cases grieve the loss just like humans. I enjoyed reading these. Sara
