Growing UP Grandpa was a good man. I loved him my whole life. However, there is a question in my mind... ??? When I was very young, and I had been a terror, he would tell me clearly, "I am going to take you back." My eyes would grow large, my heart would beat fast. "Back?" "I am going to take you back, to the reservation." He said it often, as I remember, as I was not a good girl, even when I tried. Things were hard to understand, the social graces, metal braces, strange faces, and white laces. Grandpa never did what he threatened he would do, yet I am not sure if I am sorry, he did not. Am I... who I, think I am?

Parents and grand parents at times thoughtlessly say something as warnings to divert the children from wrong actions. But their words may sometimes leave a long lasting fear in the children. Well composed, Ann....
