Grace of An Angel

The hands that brewed my cup of tea with peanut butter/jelly glee and made sure that I always ate so off to school, I’d not be late The tender lips to nudge my head and gently kiss me into bed The face that never let me see the worries life can guarantee The eyes that bore an endless smile at least for me and all the while through cooking, cleaning, feeling tired and any pain her life required Yet, it’s her voice remembered most a sweet and ever welcome ghost For what could somehow rise above the sound of a grandmother’s love An angel’s grace, she did possess with human fails, no more, no less Yet with her gentle way. so fine she was the best for she was mine For Nellie…

Your tribute to Grandma Nellie defines your loving sentiments. I had one such a giving and gentle grandmother. The other was never pleased with me no matter how hard I tried.

Hi Mike…at first I thought you were writing about your mum and I got real nervous as I know how close you are and how much she means to you.Really sad to see you lost your grandma who obviously from your poem was so very loved and special. Is she your mums mum? I love her name also Nellie! I’m so sorry for your loss Mike….I bet Nellie loved you to pieces! Debx

What a fond remembrance of your grand mother.....! The connection between a grand mother and a grand child is so precious ! With how much of concern she has cooked the best goodies for you. A grandma's love and sacrifice are nonpareil!

Aw, such a beautiful tribute to your grandmother. My grandmother shepherded me along the way, too, Mike. They didn't make them any better back then than ours. Well-written, delightful poem.
