Good Bye

Today I have a heavy heart, I must bid farewell to a special friend. Some friendships are not meant to last. Some people come into your life for a season and some last a lifetime. Today I am crying on the inside because I must say goodbye to a friend. The times we shared are special And I will never forget them or who they are as a person. But the time we have had shared has run its course. And it's time to move on I bid them(you) farewell but they(you) will always have my heart. Alexis Y. 4-17-18

I can relate to this Alexis. I have long time friends fortunately, but one that ended with much confusion and no closure and it hurt a lot. Well written and expressed!

Raised in a military family, I knew 'bye' before I did 'hello.' My kindergarten - graduation was 11 schools in as many places so I relate to this bittersweet emotion that sits like a companion inside me. I've never had a lifetime friend, not in the cards for me, but I know the saying 'for a season, a reason or lifetime..' This write touched all my personal core buttons and I felt every word of it. I too can relate, I have a friend of 8 years that ended the friendship with no explanation. Having no closure is the most difficult.

gosh, that is sad!! This has happened to me several times (saying goodbye to very strong friendships, well at least I THOUGHT they were strong). Maybe five people who were very close to me online just vanished from my life, a few without giving any good reason. That made me very disappointed in them. I only ended one friendship that I can recall and it's because I realized the person was a nutcase!!

It's heartbreaking when we realize that a friendship has "run its course." People change and sometimes we have to let go. Very well composed, Alexis. (I recently said farewell to a friend of decades. It was hard, but for the best. Hope you are doing well now.)
