I often go back to my old home where I was happy as a young girl memories of Christmas still fresh in my head oh, where do the years go where did that little girl go mom and dad are in heaven now and my beloved grandma too and sister I remember snowball kitty a Christmas stocking gift dad had a hard time keeping her there I miss the park at the end of our street I spent hours there watching the ducks and swans on the pond spent hours and hours laying under the ancient trees I was dad's Christmas tree helper cannot forget the year dad cut down a tree much too tall to get in our house mom was so upset 'cause dad cut off the top and she yelled "where will I put my angel!" oh memories memories come flooding back . . .

Dear Constance, I enjoyed being immersed in your intimate, tender reverie. Simply beautiful in soft childhood memories of Christmas. So very moving, so bittersweet. Congrats for your win in Brian's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

what a nostalgic and uplifting poem, Constance. I enjoyed journey back in time with you to your childhood days. The way you constructed your poem combined with your word choices created such evocative realism. I have to fave this one. Have a great evening, Sara. PS best wishes with the contest

I always find Christmas quite an emotional time, you look back at Christmases past and remember loved ones you once shared it with no longer with us. There will be another empty seat at our table this year as my mother in law passed away three months ago. For the kids it's magical and we adults try to put on a brave face for their sake. Tom
