Jaws turned fifty! I watched the movie, the Summer of 1975. Better than a roller coaster ride. Quite a thriller for its time. A standard. Read the Peter Benchley book, too! It was a great "beach read." Ha Ha!

“Doo-doo, doo-doo,” we hear the beast coming. Music gets under our skin. The worst of attacks, narrated by the boat’s captain. Unsettling sink of the USS Indianapolis. Just below the hull, a giant life wanting to strike a blow. This boat a smaller target. Getting chummy, stomachs lurching. Baited by grimmer details. A solid blow to the vessel. All hands on deck - only three. “Doo-doo, doo-doo,” and oftentimes whimsical. Who will survive? Aye! Aye! Not the captain! The shark will save the other half for dinner. You, who know, know what happens. Those who don’t, be warned; watch, get an education!

I did not want to read the book at that time, maybe it might make a good book to read this summer but not at the beach. LOL..Interesting work. Sara K

very descriptive of an iconic movie. I only remember parts of it, like that haunting music. I also remember the Saturday Night Live take on Jaws...it was hilarious. Nicely done, yellow rose

LOL! SNL! My sis just had a SNL party to celebrate her 50th and her husband’s 60th birthdays. My nephew-in-law came dressed as the shark. I was Debbie Downer (even brought a slim fast to drink) other than the alcohol ;) if you’re familiar. Got a few laughs!

Jaws is still very clear in your mind, Kim! I remember the main 'suggestive' parts, though other parts now escape me. Apart from the film itself I liked the advertising poster which was very striking. ~ Regards // paul

I already forgot what happened. I am sure most of them died. I have seen so many movies in my lifetime, I can't recall the endings of half of them. But I sure remember the long line I stood in just to get a crappy seat in an old theater. I think this is one of the few movies that made me jump in my seat! I recall eight : doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo. Haha iconic!

LOL…the crappy seat in an old theater! I went with someone to see Dawn of the Dead around the same time. Someone came to the theater late and at a scary part tapped my friend on the shoulder, nearly sending her underneath the chair. doo doo lol!

Yep, a very exciting flick you well describe. Jaws, the Exorcist was another shocking flick. That poor young actress. How did she grow up!? Hoping she is all right. A lot of deep truth in what we superficially determine outrageous fiction.

I remember seeing a portion of The Exorcist at my friend’s house when cable was new…leads one to wonder was that good. I did not see it on the bug screen. I must have read the book, too, as I remember discussing it with my uncle who was about 8 years older. Sidenote: He passed away too early. Hugs ~ Kim

This poem cleverly fuses personal nostalgia with cinematic and historical reference, using the iconic “Jaws” soundtrack as a rhythmic device that builds suspense. The imagery is visceral and unsettling, especially in its seamless transition from fiction to the grim reality of the USS Indianapolis. While playful in tone at times, the poem delivers a chilling undercurrent of mortality and survival, leaving a lasting impression.Good work Kim,
