Funny How My Winter Turned Into Summer
FUNNY HOW MY WINTER TURNED INTO SUMMER
I walk in drifts so cold, a bitter bite.
My boots with holes, a stab of pain for miles.
The flakes do dance around my head tonight.
Each one intent to stick upon snow piles.
I rub my eyes. I stretch. The morning yawns.
Too hot beneath my quilt, of mom’s design.
I see green leaves and tender buds of dawn.
What season’s change occurred in my recline?
How did my Winter turn to Spring, this quick?
This joke turns snowballs red and apple shaped.
Perhaps, I slept away the snow? Was sick?
I wear much warmer skin since time escaped.
I’m sunburnt now. I yearn for days of cold.
My stranded boots are left, confused and old.
