A Twilight ends the sweltering day with a dusky simmer
    American liberty, is what we're commemorating       
Firecrackers burst above us, romantic, lights that shimmer
Under a lit sky we stand, with family celebrating

very nice. I wonder if my comment will even go through. I was not able to comment at your blog and half the time i can't comment on your poems. Anyway, congrats, dear. (I prefer shorter lines for iambic pentameter, for future reference)
