Friends In My Life

I thought a bit about the friends I’ve had since childhood and through school days, then till now. Some friendships have been bliss; a few turned bad, yet even then, I’ve gleaned some good somehow. The friendships in my youth, like blooms of spring, made life so sweet, but flowers wilt and fade. New seasons came – new friendships blossoming, but I do not forget strong bonds I made. I’d move away; some moved away from me - our lives becoming different, and so each one who vanished is a memory I’ve cherished - though some cruelly let me go. This much I’ve learned: Fair weather friends abound, but through the storms, my true friends stick around. May 3, 2018 For Emile Pinet's 'NEW POEMS ONLY - 2' Poetry Contest

I love this honest and sweet poem, Andrea. It is so true: "true friends stick around" through thick and thin. I wrote one called "Old Friends" and would have entered it but it's not new.

Your last 2 lines sums your nicely written poem up very well, Andrea. Fair weather friends shine when there is sun; Our truest friends shine when there is none. Congrats! All the best to you. :) ~ Artsie

Nicely written, Andrea, the final couplet sums it up well. I sometimes questions whether "fair weather friends" are friends at all. John
