Forty

After forty days of rain,
Earth could then begin again.
Forty days and nights fasting,
Christ proved he is everlasting.

In forty years, which flies,
a new generation will rise.
Despite all this, oh Lordy!
your life BEGINS at forty!

Happy Happy Birthday and it really is true
that life begins at forty!!!
(note: to the American ear, 40 is "fordy"

Enjoyed this combination of serious/fun poem, Andrea, and congrats on your win. Up till 44 I was still playing football and other sports, then an injury to my knee curbed my physical activities. The rest did me good, and nowadays I am back to playing badminton! // paul

They say age is a state of mind, I don't believe that.I believe it's a state of mind relative to your age, trust me at 40 I could still run like a deer at 65 I can't..good luck in the contest

Yes they say life begins at forty. Hubby turned forty-one last August. He keeps complaining that since He turned forty He's been feeling drained and tired, but when I turn forty I want to prove him wrong. I ll be 39 in May : ). Loved your take-on on this dear. The Bible uses forty a great deal too. Great!
