Forgiveness

If by my grave you someday pass, And see a stone with my name; Spend time with me, sit in the grass, And pray you can forgive my shame. If I didn't pass all that was true, Or fell beneath your portion of desire; If I didn't do all that was right, My heart lives in fear of its empty fire. Then let your sorrow drown its tear On your cheek in sadness fall; Forget my failure, keep my memory near, For what I was to you over all. And if you can't reach out and bless, Grant me compassion in forgiveness. By Elizabeth Wesley I will post it on each floor in the place where I live andmaybe get downtown to do it in some stores.

Forgiveness is one of the ultimate gifts we can give another, as God has given us. It may not be easy, but we must strive to forgive as we expect it from others. So well said Mrs. Elizabeth, a beautiful, emotional and soul stirring poem, your words were very eloquent and pluck upon the heart strings :)

We have no choice, but to live our lives. Forgiveness is how the soul survives. We are all only just passing through. To carry hate, well that just won't do. Try as we might, to perfect this game. Our lives tomorrow, won't be the same. Time marches in it's own parade. While the rest of us just slowly fade.

An emotive write. Forgiveness is a vital part of being human. We are all imperfect and we should be willing to forgive...most things, at least. Well done. Love, Robert.

Forgiveness meant really forgiveness. So softly with holly heart you have written, forgiveness lies there. Thanks for this nicely penned Elegy and also thanks for your early comments on my writing, my sister. bl

I really like this Elizabeth. It speaks to me of someone who though she loved deeply never expressed that love fully and so felt she had short changed her loved one. My husband is like that. He says he just can't express his love but boy he sure can let you know when he's mad. Good write here. God Bless, JB

I find this one sad just thinking how callous must be the one reading the headstone. though you make it sound as if the one speaking from the grave is the shameful one. I am not so sure about that. This is wonderful, elizabeth.
