Flawed Before God

The humble man stands before God,
Contrite, and aware he is flawed;
As each day begins
He confesses his sin
Then kneels before God and is awed.

The flawless man stands there as well
Convinced he has no sin to tell
And that God is his equal
Which leads to his sequel
Of life everafter -- in hell.

Oh yes, and how many times did Jesus say this, one way or another?

ps. i wished to express one last thought brought forth amid this canvas of truth my dear, and this being -- a realities moment amid such checkerboard squares for, wisdoms mate is that of, the breath of life -- love again, christopher

what would i liken this shimmerous colourous canvas unto? it would have to be as a pearl of wisdom so brushed i would say for, to be humble is to be exhalted and to be amissfully prideful is to be, as your beauty has thus so brushed, brought back down unto, the dust of reality for, how can the created say unto the Creator of All that, i am greater than thee?! -- very beautiful my dear; ruby red, as your beauties heart; a fave along with, your priceless self -- love, christopher

Wow! I am blown away by your poem. Just realised how miniscule we all are before the lord. Many thanks for your kind comments and I agree with you that poetry should have deep and clever meanings. I hope to write like you and improve everytime. Great work Deb.

VERY, very clever take on the contest, Deb! God shows mercy when we repent, but if we think we're perfect, we'll likely receive little compassion. Definitely one of the best I've seen for this competition and I hope to see you scoring high in the winners' circle. Love, Carolyn
