I watch the twilight fade
as the world turns dark
Stars appear, one by one
then many begin to shine all at once
The night welcomes quiet reflections
of the day
it too faded
leaving only bits and pieces lingering
in the fog of my aged mind
that is also fading
Where a memory is a thought lost in a second
followed by a blank stare of confused wondering
As I contemplate the fading memory of my mind
I stare into a void and wonder
What was it I was contemplating?
As it too has faded...
