Eyes Wide Open
As the hawk flew by,
Its wings left shadows on the trees
Flickering in the sun
Soaring to its destination,
Unknown to anyone watching
The air was cold, spring was late
This didn't matter to the hawk flying free
Leaving a beautiful trail of sight to see
In open space with flashes of possibility
Reflected from its flight, to eyes wide open
And a mind willing to welcome it all
