~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night I dreamt of a violent thunderstorm, one that would quickly ravish the land. I stood on my back porch watching and listening, the storm’s power engulfing me. In the storm I am light, as if shadows could be inverted to shine in dark times. The thunder comes as heaven's drum-roll, the invitation for me to take to the stage and show that I have what it takes to stay strong until the calm and gentle days return.
the sky’s drummer strikes, thunder rolls across the clouds, a beat raw and pure. it resonates in my bones, a primal song of power.
Great piece Sara. Dreams have become more beautiful, a place to see, feel and fulfil things we can't here. "In the storm I am light." So evocative. I could imagine the clash and beauty in it.
What a powerful tanka dear sara, i love this, the way youv described also your dream, and how youv written this is so descriptive and creative, and well articulated, i especially love “ the sky’s drummer strikes, thunder rolls across the clouds,“ wow! Definitely seems like that, a drummer there is playing heavy metal, and im no fan as i might have told you of before, how scared i am of such thunderstorms, and yes i do believe you are a ray of light amidst thunder! Pleasure always reading you
thank you, dearest Ink, for your kind and complimentary words. I'm glad you liked 'sky's drummer strikes'--I wrote those words because thunder always reminds me of my brother who was a professional drummer. I think of thunder as his way of saying 'hello sis!" I'm grateful, too, that you see me as a ray of light amidst the thunder...so sweet and thoughtful. Hope you're well...wishing you a splendid weekend, hugs, Sara
Yes, sometimes those storms can be so powerful that it shakes us to the core and unnerves us. I have been in a few like that and my rat terrier is that way in every storm no matter how small. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K
I agree. Storms, especially thunder, can be so powerful and unnerving. For some reason, though, I've always slept through them...not a good idea for a Texan who lives in the tornado belt. :-) Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening, Sara B
Indeed, we liken to the power of the storm, the emotion of the storm -- truth be told, we are the architects~ in the storm all our aspirations and dreams...it is the storm's way...God's way. Wonderful write!
Oh the power of nature, it's eerie before a storm, everything goes quiet, even the birds stop singing. Natures way of cleaning the landscape I suppose. Love the accompanying picture. Enjoy your weekend Sara. Tom
I can relate to that 'eerie' feeling you describe. Have witnessed it many times and once before a powerful tornado wove it's way through my hometown. I was only five years old, but I remember the sounds, the sights, and even the smell...to this day. Glad you liked the picture as well. Wishing you a great weekend, Sara
