ENGRAVE MY NAME You used to say… No-one would ever win your heart On that first day… I loved you from the very start When you spoke… your voice sounded oh so sweet, your words tasted like iced cream, that melted even in my dreams The days went by… I couldn’t get enough of you Even time cried… as the minutes faded out of view Then you said: “Some mountains are too high to climb” I begged you for a little time Our love song had run out of rhyme Chorus So, engrave my name... Don’t forget our yesterday... I may go down in flames... My ashes won’t get in your way... You’re carved on my heart... Your mem’ry races through my veins So, won’t you engrave my name... Baby, please engrave my name The years roll by... I’ve never found no-one like you Seems to me... I’ve never gotten over you I wonder if... you ever, ever, think of me... Or, are we driftwood floating in two streams... merging only in my dreams Chorus So, engrave my name... Don’t forget our yesterday... I may go down in flames... Wow!! John, your lyrics are so poignant, endearing and heartfelt that my eyes were misty by the end of the first chorus. Beautifully emotional lines of loveliness, longing and lost love.. 'Your words tasted like iced cream' - is ultrasuperb! Love it!! Warmest wishes. ~Susan

Thanks Leanne, some of my songs have been recorded and are being pitched to singers, so I cannot post them unfortunately for 2 years, hopefully you'll hear them on the radio....one day!!
