Endangered Earth

She was born the center of cosmos flame By divine hand, or by black hole pressure She was light, She was blue water, fresher She was mother to life, before life came Our ancestors knew, kept the covenant Nourished Her woods, to the future would plant Now faster in thought, though wisdom is scant For convenience, inviting detriment We pierce fragile skies of risky weather Our wounds common, our destinies linked If She is endangered, we are extinct We choose the world, providence together. 2/17/19

Well written Michelle. Everything appears strong and secure around us but reality reminds us how fragile life can be and also a planets existence - nicely put together Michelle - Lindsay

Just beautiful, so well written and it touches my heart. Some days, I feel sure I'm the biggest wimp-softy on earth because I can't make it to the grocery store without crying about all the trash lining all the roads. Where I live, litterers have gotten out of hand, not that they were ever in hand to begin with. A timely poem, a true poem. Ever notice that earth spells heart if you simply move the 'h' to the beginning? God's heart, given to us - my view. Enjoyed. Concur. All the best ... CayCay

There is a lot we could learn from ancestors who "kept the covenant" and protected our planet, Michelle. The line "If She is endangered, we are extinct" is so true. There was some great competition in this category. Congratulations on your second-place win! Best wishes, Carolyn

Before Christians arrived, America was "Earth Mother", but Christians believe their god will destroy everything, so it is best to grab everything before the next guy. We must cultivate a belief that even Trump's grandchildren will need "natural" resources before the fracas! Good luck with that! Aloha! Rico

I want to keep her safe too, Michelle. I know you are her fervent advocate. Where shall I turn? What can we do? Let me know. This one stirred me up today.

You can recycle, use less plastic, drive less - but honestly, the governments of the world will have to join forces to make a significant difference.
