Empty Room
Empty Room
She has left her room,
The college child,
Grown and gone she is,
For a while to be wild.
On her dresser there lies
A box of treasures left behind,
Remembrances of childhood days,
One day to return and find.
Beads made by Indians
Dug out of the ground
On a family vacation
Out of town.
A pressed rose from the prom,
Not quite dried through,
A teddy bear necklace,
The faded picture of a boy who grew.
A new box, a computer, is for today,
But tomorrow she will find
A painted box of treasures
That today she left behind.
