ELEPHANTS

Intelligent
     are elephants,
          not negligent.

African herds
     are killed for tusks -
          cruelty loud heard. 

Asian giants
     lost habitat
          to growth tyrants.

Family styled,
     elephant hearts
          are love compiled.

Despite great strength
     they gently love
          their long-life length.

                                        Stop evil shoots,
                                        grant living space,
                                        and pray peace roots.

My den has at least 30 elephants, knick-knacks, made of varied materials, in different positions, attitudes and sizes. Plus, two framed pictures. I love them all which assists/lifts me when cleaning them. I really enjoy baby elephant rescue/healing shows on youtube, enjoy isn't the right word THOUGH by the end, joy does come. CayCay

Valsa George March 30, 2026 at 8:42 PM Elephants are royal animals, very intelligent. They are to be granted living space. Though law prohibits, they are killed for looting their tusks. Lovely entry. All the best.

David Crandall March 30, 2026 at 3:58 PM Great poem! My favorite stanza: "family styled..." It reminds me of a book I read a few years ago. I think it was called "The Emotional lives of animals". I learned that while dogs can smell a zillion times better than people. Elephants can smell much better than dogs.
