Edgar Allan Poe

It is the desire of the moth for the star….. - Edgar Allan Poe I awoke this morning to find the powdery imprint of wings on a window that must have been left by a moth trying to get in when it careered full flight into glass, blinded and driven lovesick by the glow from a light I had kept turned on when reading Edgar Allan Poe late last night.

I love the circular tale Paul and I hope it's 100% true :) (and that the moth filled it's evening with alternate allure, unscathed).

It's true...was too good a coincidence to let pass and not shove it in a poem. Did not find a dead moth so I assume it carried off into the night... As always..good to hear from you DD. Take care..

Drawn to love as Poe was to Lenore, the moth wanted nothing more than to love what he desperately tried to reach. Love can cause such pain and suffering... death. Paul, Poe was often misunderstood. His life cut too short, and I dare say some he would've written would've become as masterful and memorable as those he completed. Seriously fine poetry.

Absolutely love your comments Lin...you do honor to Poe. His belief in the transcendence of love is what survives as his great legacy...despite his considerable suffering which he made into art. Many thanks Lin for your thoughtful and informed words on Poe...take care dear friend.

Such is life. Win some, lose some. The price for having a teeny tiny brain I suppose

Ah Poor Moth ! As a matter of interest the moth referred to is a symbol for the transcedence of love even when confronted by death. Poe used this universal theme. Indeed all sublime poetry is written by those lovesick with beauty otherwise all would be devoid of soul. So here's to the moth who died for love. Many thanks Tom for yr comments. Cheers
