Echoes of Her Voice
He sat on her side of the bed
as sunlight peeked in the window
and as dawn slowly rose
this is what he said...
"I see you in each sunrise,
your tears in drops of rain.
I keep whispering your name
but nothing stops the pain."
He heard echoes of her voice,
and looked around the room,
recalling the words she'd spoken
with her last shallow breath...
"My heart will share your sorrow
I'll yearn to hold you near.
Nothing will soothe the heartache
of Death, but your voice I will hear."
