East of Eden's Land
East of Eden’s Land multicolored blossoms glow.
By instinct we surmise why such beauty was planned
to divert our eyes from wild weeds that also grow
east of Eden’s Land.
Concerning sacrifice, Cain didn’t understand
the link twixt the root and stem ~ he needed to know,
having learned that seeds don’t sprout just by sleight-of-hand.
Creator and Man in proper perspective show
working the soil, providing sun and rain, we band
together: one in what we do, where’er we go
east of Eden’s Land.
