There was an artist Van Gogh
who loved to put on a show
	cut off his ear
	shed not a tear
Why? no one will ever know

Whoa! You've really captured this tortured soul -- an enigma wrapped in a riddle, as they say. Thanks, Gershon

The Bible (Matthew 18:9) instructs, "pluck it out" rather than be offended, but being a man, van Gogh thought it wiser to lend an ear . . .? Aloha!

In any case, I think he was a bit crazy. I certainly would never cut off an ear for any woman!

Self-mutilation is not in my repertoire either. Of course, he could have cut it off to spite Gauguin ;). Linda
