Dreaming of Love 2
Another day dies as I sit in a fallow field and watch
my dream sprouting among the wild verdant weeds.
The silence of the valley is soon broken as evening
approaches and birds take their last flight.
A breeze passes by making the wild jonquils dance,
as the night deepens and darkness intensifies.
Still I dream my nightmare, persistently repetitive,
unending, heart throbbing, painful and agonizing.
The dew impregnates the air, now I feel cold,
breathless and solitary, except for my dream
and the dark skies fill with starry glow worms.
A coyote howls from afar, as on the ridge I hear a rumbling,
a storm is gathering. I never had the courage
to climb and explore the ridge. I know you will be there,
lovely, dark tresses, pale face, abyssal seeing eyes.
Oh, once I tried, but never made it. The uneven terrain alien,
the rocks sharp and killing and the irrational fear of heights.
The thread of my life seems to be ending. I lost her forever.
Who knows, perhaps it's fear I might find you waiting there,
all ravishing and serene. So, I stay on the plain and dream of you.
