Notes About The Poem

Dream

Dream

My mirrored reflection silently speaks

You honor me with your vulnerability
Your scars of life
Your unhealed wounds of betrayal

Dream journals tattoo your body
Your open arms of desire call to me

With eyes closed I sense
Whispers of your silky wings
Fluttering against smeared panes of glass
Separating us in the night

Your voiceless screams
Crushed pink musical notes hover close by
Magical music envelopes me
Dancing sounds emanating from
The depths of your kaleidoscope soul

A rebirth of desire
You are my child
My eyes call to you
Fragile strands of distance
Separate us

My child
I long to touch you
To hug you
To comfort you

Our palms meet
Mirroring one another
Rising them above our heads
We create a circle of life together

Only the transparent looking glass
Keeps me from feeling
The warmth of your touch

I read stories to you
You cannot hear me
I turn the book around
Pressing it to the glass
Not knowing if you
Can interpret the words

Hello my dear child
I am here to make you smile
I will dance for you
I will pantomime
I will become a dynamic octopus
Changing color and form
Before your eyes

I reach through the glass
As it liquifies and melts
Coating my fingertips
Hands and arms
In a warm embrace

I find you in the blur
Lifetimes pass
Time Inhales
Grasping blindly
I cup your shoulders
Bringing you to me
Dissolving all barriers

I press you against
My beating heart
Sweat glides down my cheekbone
Caressing your forehead
Leaving salty trails

Child of mine
No greater honor
Has been bestowed on me
Allow me to help you heal
As you have healed me

Cherished
Line drawings
Smiling suns
Red Dogs
Green Trains

Spider webs of glitter
Paper mache bowls
Painted in Aztec colors
Fill my dresser drawer

Remembering sugar cookie stars
Coated in Thick frosting
Sprinkles
Burnt edges

Many skinned knees
Broken spirits
Bactine and Bandaids

Notes by my bed
“I love you Mama”

These moments in time
Stored in the locket of
My heart
Forever
I kiss you now

A poem of deep emotional connection, though not tangible , but perceptible !"Allow me to help you heal As you have healed me".... In life, we need to have this mutual healing and those we heal and those who help us to be healed, they stay close to our hearts ! As ever, an emotion charged poem Susan

Parts of this dream sound enchanting: the music notes hovering, the kaleidoscope soul, the enveloping comfort of dancing sounds, the cherished childhood memories, either your own or those shared with your child. Other parts feel terrorizing, enough to evoke this emotionally dense tapestry of anxiety and fear of losing a child. Then again, dreams may be symbolic, and maybe there is grief over the loss of one's own childhood or innocence, or fear of losing one's "inner child". Powerful writing, Susan (as always). Have you ever painted a dream?

Even if this is only a dream, it is so emotive, Susan! It appeals to my heart and soul. Loss can never be put completely to rest; memories keep coming back, not to haunt, but to keep the bond alive. ~ Congratulations on being awarded p.o.t.d. Warm regards & Hugs // paul

Dearest Susan, I adore being able to experience this amazing dream with you. So many emotions stirred. Dreams can be a reminder of the past we've lost contact with, a way to reconnect.. and dreams can be a magical way of reconnecting with the inner child who might have wandered too far from one's heart. Your brilliant words are deep, beautiful, moving and bring me to the center of this intimate scene . Such a wonderful pic of you too, my inspiring friend. Your poem is breathtaking and your soul is radiant. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Dear Susan, Apologies for the delay in responding to your heartfelt comment so rich in introspection and intelligence. Thank you . I am ingratitude for your words and your vision of life, heart, soul and nuances of our journey through space and time. Sending big hugs and love. The dream was very powerful and very visceral. Love, Susan :) xx

Susan, my belated congratulations are heartfelt and full of admiration for one who writes so beautifully. Your POTD so richly deserved. I felt relief when i read below this was a dream. The loss of a child is unbearable, but it was God's choice, and in that I find solace. I lost my first child, at five days old, but was rewarded 18 months later when I gave birth to a healthy bouncy baby boy. I applaud the absolute richness of words you envelop your poetry in. Blessings and hugs. Jennifer.

Jennifer, So very honored by your visit and humbled by your comments. I can't imagine the pain you felt when you lost your tiny baby...SO very happy you gave birth 18 months later to your heathy baby boy! A true blessing indeed. This dream came to me in meditation and its effect was so visceral I had to write about it. Thank you for your energy and heart. Blessings and hugs right back, Susan :)
