Enclosed Rhyme
One or more verses with a rhyme scheme of "abba" (that is, where the first and fourth lines, and the second and third lines rhyme).
Take a stroll down memory lane,
but skip the sad thoughts locked in time.
Choose the ones where life felt sublime;
let's revisit those thoughts again.
Remember when you were a child;
think of the games you played for fun?
Try to recall your first home run,
your team applauded; how you smiled!
Hide and Seek and Mother May I
were outdoor games played with a friend.
The Bogeyman was all pretend;
every parent told that white lie.
Marbles were treasures you traded
and gambled like bubble gum cards.
Girls played hopscotch in the schoolyards,
and the boys joined... once persuaded.
In the Summer, you’d stay outside
until it got too dark to play.
Christmas was your favorite day,
nothing overshadowed Yuletide.
Memories that you can't relive,
preserve glimpses of years gone past.
Unique times, your heart has amassed
as you took all life had to give.
