''“Poetry is what happens when nothing else can.” ''

Charles Bukowski

I feel my wings begin to flex, my feathers starting to unfurl. Soon my heart will leave this cage and fly beyond the edge of space. My spirit leaps on mighty wings. My chains begin to fail. Soaring now were I need be above high Heaven's gate. Here in silent solitude my pen becomes alive. My pen, my soul together now- to drive my cares away. And now the journey ends for me. I'm back within my cage. My empty heart now filled with joy, at peace another day. For John Lawless' DISTANT THINGS - Poetry Contest Written Jun 11, 2016
