Notes About The Poem

Dilapidated Kitchen

A collaboration by Tania Kitchin, Lin Lane, Jan Allison and me that was inspired by Charles Messina's recent POTD.

It's a pooper scooper; that's what we need But I doubt they will willingly concede It'll take jury and judge for those who refuse to budge No matter how many of us agreed. Cara never wrote an honest line Her poems just stink, they're not sublime They all just reek like poo Should be flushed down the loo Needs to stop stealing poems online Ken was so ill, thought he had a bad flu And freaked out when he saw his poo was blue He went to have some tests, Praying his bowels rest Told he ate too many berries, who knew Poor Tania's cat pooped on the floor Then wiped it's butt on the loo door It's too late in the night To see this poopy sight Cat faeces in house folk abhor! She lets her dog out for a pee When under a bush she can see A skunk ready to spray She gets her dog away Phew! no skunk spray on poor Ziggy. I suggest the site be fumigated For some who need to read it translated... "People who post their poop Don't belong in our group" Hope this current trend becomes abated. In the past folks wrote their own poetry On display for the whole wide world to see But many are quite sly Use robots and AI It's cheating and reeks of dishonesty.

A smashing collaboration, Tom. Don’t know what the answer is. Maybe soup should run an AI detector on every poem posted. Yes it might add a minute or so to the submission process and, yes, there may be false positives but surely it would cancel out some of the dross. Notwithstanding the serious issues behind this collab… all the contributors did good.

Thank you Terry, it shows folks aren't happy, I suppose change is inevitable but its been too much all at once, many not happy with the 5 O limit. You know only too well how long it takes to compose a poem, it can take hours even days polishing it, and to disappear in a short space of time is really disappointing. Tom

Ahh!! So sad about a kitchen when it is really about something else entirely. Creative collaboration. Way to go..👏. Sara K.

Thank you Sara, its a shame that AI and plagiarism seems to be the norm on the site now. Tom🌹

Haha. Quite the collaboration .I love you or somebody equated it all with poopy AI. I would prefer the SH word for what AI is.

I read the intro last, don't know why. Wasn't surprised to see Jan's name, I smelled her all over those limericks. There's not enough money to make me clean that mess! TNT to the poop and pee. Your limericks (y'alls limericks), were individually awesome making the sum total one fun read. Just looking at the picture makes me want to run away from myself. CayCay

Thank you Cay Cay, it’s a shame how the kitchen has gone to rack and ruin,we live in hope that one day it can rise from the ashes like the phoenix. Just back from Italy so haven’t had much time to log on. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. Tom🌹

What a nasty sight where poop is cooked and served....! This is a wonderful collaborative effort. 👍 Enjoyed the humor greatly, 😂.But the image of the kitchen is repulsive.🤐

What a scintillating poem, i enjoyed the cat and dog stanzas the most for their creative rhyming. Yes its totally not fair if poets post AI poems. I think AI poems are too commonplace boring anyway. Kudos!! Plz also read and comment my newest poem too

Thank you Heidi, its a shame many think its okay to use AI to write a poem and get praised for it. If that happened to me I'd be straight to the doctors. I heard that if you eat a lot of asparagus it turns it green, alright for St Patrick's day lol. Hope you're ok, enjoy your weekend. Tom🌹

What a riotous collaborative romp. The jaunty limerick form, brisk rhymes, and escalating bathroom humour give Dilapidated Kitchen a wonderfully irreverent, communal energy— while the closing stanza gives the silliness a pointed topical bite.🤔

Truly crazy! Put them in the “poopy bin,” reclaim our soupy friends. Why do people have to ruin? I’ve enjoyed this sight, so many poetry friends and learned so much. How can you learn, if you drivel. 😭🤔✍️

Wowie! Tom, Tania, Lin, and Jan, what the...! An absolute riot of a satirical collaboration! It takes four clever hands to blend cat door-wiping, blueberries, skunks, and literary integrity into a seamless, laugh-out-loud limerick-style suite. I think it is sharp, cheeky, and deeply entertaining, a great example of the fun that happens when community members jump in on a shared prompt or POTD response! Blessings, Daniel

Thank you Daniel, we've had many like this over the years with others joining in the fun, and it was Charlie's potd that inspired us ,we'll have to have more in the future. That was true about the skunk, and Tania's dog , he had a lucky escape.lol. Have a lovely weekend. Tom👍

There is not enough of this sort of camaraderie on the site, Daniel. I, and I'm sure my fellow collaborators would agree with that. We've been called nasty names by some who don't take kindly to being called bullies and trolls, but we're still here and writing new poetry. Aside from the disparaging use of AI and occasional plagiarism, the soup is much more palatable now then it was months ago.

That soup kitchen is a terrible mess, 🤔Tom. Maybe the AI users destroyed it in response to Charlie's expose'. Thanks for posting these.⭐
