Dignity
Dignity comes from within.
Given to us by them, the Ones who knew.
The Ones who came before us.
Back breaking, heart aching, sturdy ones,
mouth close; soul screaming.
The ones who carried all which was.
Dignity; my mother, your mother, my father, your father.
Born with it; never beaten out.
Dignity consoles as my bruised blacken knees hit the floor.
It remains in the palm of my hands when it's too hard to bear.
Dignity, my birth right; it settled upon my first breath,
as my eyes opened.
It's never taken lightly; always protected.
Stand tall on the backs of many, much is to be learned.
Repay them, for much is owed.
Stand in Dignity, for they are watching.
Dignity, given to us by them, never beaten out.
