Dewdrops
Crystal drops of dew faintly laze
on rose, a leaf, a blade.
They find they are in morning's haze.
A butterfly wakens their daze
Sips bits of sweetest nectar made
then hurries to meet shade.
Magic occurred as the world slept:
fairies collected dew
from lilac-soaked clouds, secrets kept.
Drops of rain have become adept
at hiding from sun's heated flue
their lilac dewdrops too.
Sweetness gleaned from a pansy's face;
dew spins nectar, it's said.
Bees and butterflies find its trace
seasoned with cups of Heaven's grace
and pollen, on wings, will be spread
to kiss new buds ahead.
