Anacreontic Verse I’m feeling so blue. My tears fall drip, drip, drip. Eyes bright red as the deluge flows unceasingly. My broken heart aches and cannot be fixed … such intense pain so deep inside. Why did you leave me all alone, expecting me to soldier on without you? I don’t need a photograph to see your face as it is printed indelibly in my mind. Your parting was so sudden. No phone call or letter just intense silence. Drugs took your life, but your memory will live on forever. Submitted to Best sad poem ever II Sponsored by Laura Loo 01~02~16

Wow thanks Ed:-) I am delighted to place so highly - it is an emotive write but my son's 2 friends died in a drugs related incident and they are always in my thoughts and I guess that is what inspired this poem:-) hugs jan xx

It is a deep poems ... We sadly lost two friends brothers aged 19 and 20 to a drugs related incident - they are always in my thoughts:-( hugs Jan xx

Glad this is fiction as one feels the deep sadness in this write, Jan. Sadly, drug use is more prevalent in any society than we care to know. Cheer up, my friend. Will check for more of your fun writes. hugs!

You are probably right Andrea and sadly a man from the Island died in the UK last week and that would appear to be drugs related - oh it breaks my heart to see the devastation drugs continue to cause to so many lives:-( hugs Jan xx

I have to go with the flow of my pen Lin and this is how my muse is behaving today :-( We have had 2 tragedies of Island residents in the last week and it is so so sad especially the death of a young man of 19 who fell in the harbour and drowned after going out on New years Eve:-( :-( hugs Jan xx

Pure fiction for me but I read about a local man dying on Boxing Day from a drugs related incident and i guess that was what prompted this sad poem:-( hugs Jan xx

It is a sad poem but as we know the path of life is not smooth and sadness does overtake our lives. I was reading about another death from a drugs related incident and this poem was the result:-( hugs Jan xx
