Derbyshire Flag- For Contest

The Derbyshire flag has a cross of green with a background of pale blue green for the verdant leas and peaks blue Derwent running through. At the crux of the cross, a Tudor rose fierce history it carries Henry the seventh beat Richard the third Lancaster and York houses married. Combined, their roses red and white for the house of Tudor of old Derbyshire's rose, recently born, resplendent in it's gold. Consider yourself edified in this poetic manner for this may be the last time that I write about a banner. Well Viv, I gotta go to the internet now and look this flag up...I have always wanted to visit Great Britain and see Westminster Abbey and all the other historical sites...Compared to the European countries, the U.S. is still in it's infancy...Congratulations to my friend across the pond - Tim

Thanks, Robert, I think I learned more in one hour reading everyone else's poems than I have all year. My brain is now full. The missus will have to do all of the thinking for me now. No change there, then. Regards, Viv

The Old Bell got closed down, sadly, after someone was killed outside, Jan, but a local businessman has bought it and refurbished it. It reopened three weeks ago, and is very swish. Apart from the ballroom, you'd hardly recognise it. Nice, though. Viv x

Takk, Anne Lise. I notice that according to Norwegian law, during the hoisting and lowering of the flag, all males should be bare headed. Well, since I haven't got much hair left, that means I must be Norwegian. WooHoo! Can we get married now? Viv x

Thank you Connie, very kind. You may float into deep slumber just that little bit wiser and, more importantly, sit at dinner parties looking smug because you know something that they can't possibly know. Hee hee.... Viv x
