Dachshunds

Dachshunds

Charming pair of brave dachshunds,
Possessive and stubborn,
Grew up with my only son,
Always jealous of my love for him,

Playing games with lot of wit,
Full of humour they were a perfect fit,

Till a day burglars broke into the house,
Defying their skills of suspicion and hunt,
Took away one along with them,
The other kept digging the garden in search of him,

No praise or treats could console,
Even the police failed to prove their role,

We all died each day with rising passion,
Loneliness had turned into obsession,
Till the other disappeared too the other day,
after turning garden into a heap of clay,

Parting was unbearable to our hearts,
Teary eyes, grief tore our souls apart,

Comical clowns that gave us smiles,
Must have found peace or travelled miles,
Memories haunt and turn to torrents,
Lost are the lively days with Dachshunds !

Dr. Upma, congratulations on your win. I truly am sorry about your loss, as I read below this was a true story. It is so very sad. This happened to our son and his wife years ago when someone stole their beautiful golden Lab dog. They were so attached to him and we mourned for their loss too, so your poem brought back that memory. Hugs, Sandra

Sadly, true, there are inhumane people out there. I can't imagine what life will be like when my husband loses Simon. but a normal death has to be better than disappearance. Congrats, Dr. Upma

Congratulations, Upma! This feels so real; It was such a horrible thing to do stealing somebody's pet! Pets do become part of the family, and I can understand how hearts mourn the loss. #7 // paul

Dr. Upma A. Sharma, when they grow up together as playmates one does tend to mourn the loss of the other they have as much feelings as we do. Congratulations on your win and a 7. Blessings dear friend eve

gosh, this seems so real as if it actually happened to you. Did it? I know some animals are so grief stricken to lose a partner, they will just go kind of crazy. Great entry for Rob's contest.
