Covid Breath
His speech was stuttered
uttered in a COVID breath.
His eye lids fluttered
the flutter of angel wings.
He muttered something
of his dove-wing love,
a true and lasting love
known only through a whisper.
Whispered on a first date
to a last and lasting mate
years ago. But then,
tears ago, she passed--
through a COVID.
