Congratulations You Are In Montana

After you go to New York, Chicago and Kansas City After you are sick of people crowding you, and not being able to think Get in your car and drive until you get to the clearest air you ever breathed. You are now in Montana, where you can go fly fishing or climb up a mountain. If you prefer to walk around in the wilderness, you are in the right place. We drive two hours to see another car, and everyone shares their property. So just find a spot you like, pull off the highway and take a walk about. I have to warn you someone might come by and they will offer to help. Just tell them you wanted to watch the eagles and the baby blue sky. At night time, they will not stop because they know what you are watching You are mesmerized by the number of stars we have out here. Montana has ten times the stars other places on the planet have. Where you can hear the silence, and you know there is a God. You will not see cowboys or campfires, because they keep that stuff to natives. Unless they have too much to drink, then they might come by and offer to take you home. I have gone home with them before, and it can be rather fun at first But when they start shooting for fun, it is time to hightail it back to your car. Do not wear a fake cowboy hat or faux cowboy boots in Montana. Enjoy the air and the stars, and concentrate on how great the silence is.

I spent two summers working at Glacier National Park in Montana in my early twenties (I wrote a poem, Montana Magic, about it) and this brings it all back - the stars, the silence, the space - this is so evocative, have you ever been there?
