Shades of Blue Swirling winds dashed in a frenzy Her composure tore apart, Then the lightning and the thunder All pitched in to break her heart. Darkness fell with little warning Thoughts got flooded in the rain And the only sense of feeling Left the ache of burning pain. Foaming waves kept on their pounding, Made it harder to resist Weary mind spoke of surrender: Why the trouble to persist? Then to mind came thoughts of sunrise Brilliance of the midday sun Magic of the twilight settling Lover’s promise to be won. Faces formed behind the curtain Of the deluge of her tears Through the howling winds, a whisper: “Give to me those raging fears. Think of all that still awaits you Places, dreams you’ve yet to see Turn away from blue that shades you I am Love, come walk with me.” ------------------------------------------ For Jan Allison's Collaboration Contest 10th July 2017

Paul, a lilting and lovely rhythm waltzes with the beautifully expressed anguish of your poem, to the brink of despair and back from the edge with a message of light, love and hope. A seamless and wonderful collaboration between you and Eileen with alluring content and captivating imagery. Warmest wishes ~Susan

Glad you liked it, Jan. Pity about the final outcome. There must have been some glitch since I entered mine only after my partner had entered hers. Hugs // paul

A lovely collaboration. Her anguish and hope are beautifully expressive, the nature elements compliment the intense emotions and elevate the drama wonderfully. Stunning imagery one easily can visualize as a short film. I love everything about this. Excellent writing, a pleasure to read:) a fave

A beautiful collaboration, Paul and partner. Love can take us to the depths of despair or soaring with elation. You should write longer poems. You express your thoughts so well:)
