BRIGID (BRIGIT, BRIDE) | Goddess art, Celtic goddess, Celtic art

(Image courtesy of pininterest.com)

"Brigid or Brigit was a Celtic pagan goddess whom many worshipped. She was the goddess of music and other art forms. The Celts believed she inspired songs, poetry, craftsmanship, and wisdom. She was also known to aid in balance and transformation." (Wikipedia.com)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finally, my blood began to coagulate, but my spiritual blood still spills from my poetic pen like a razor has sliced upon the wrist of the cosmos. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A reluctant poet am I creating poems, a poet filling gaps between time and lost time~ time that opens wounds into worlds unknown. A gardener of spiritual awakening, a poet tills the soul’s soil with existential preening, ontological propagation~ a sojourner acting as both stopgap and soul-stamp. A cultivator of human flourishing, a poet tends to mankind’s soul with art, poetry, and myth with failure and loss, with ambiguity and complexity. A purveyor of wounds concealed in pain, a poet mends mankind’s soul with tales told with verse, rhyme, and lineation knowing every scar tells a story of heartache, pain, and suffering. A keeper of the sacred fire within, a poet tenders the flames of mankind’s yearning for transformation channeling the pagan goddess, Brigit, offers catharsis and balance. A versifier of multiple poetic forms, a poet tirelessly creates compelled to explore the human condition, bleeding words excessively spiritual blood will never coagulate.
This is so very well written dear sara, youv expressed so well here in such a resonating manner. Thank you for also the info in your notes, was insightful. I feel like the opening lines really hit me deep, as that is exactly what i feel too. Especially “ A reluctant poet am I creating poems, a poet filling gaps between time and lost time~ time that opens wounds into worlds unknown“ couldnt have said it any better. So well phrased. “a poet mends mankind’s soul with tales told-“ so true. For me poetry is healing. And it might be strange to some but i feel anxious when i dont write. This is a fave for me
thanks for your insightful and mindful comments. Your words always touch my poetic soul, and I'm grateful for you & your visits. I'm glad this poem connected with you in a number of ways. I, too, get anxious when I don't write. I feel lost in a way, disconnected from my higher self. I'm glad someone else besides me has similar feelings. I think those kinds of folks are true poets, writers, etc. Have you ever read the book BLESSED ARE THE WEIRD by Jacob Nordby. I think you like it...he speaks to all us 'weird' people and reaffirms that we're okay. Have a great evening, hugs, Sara
Dearest Sara, I love that you shared this today, pre- St. Patty's Day. I actually have a small sculpture of Brigit that I bought many years ago. Loved the pic and the vivid visualization you created with your penning. Especially the potent ending.
Hey Sara your poem delves into the essence of poetry and the role of the poet as a healer, a cultivator, and a guardian of the human spirit. It begins with a powerful metaphor likening the act of writing poetry to the flow of blood, suggesting that despite physical wounds healing, the emotional and spiritual wounds continue to pour out through the poet's pen. An excellent poem for the contest.. A winner for me..
..."if it wasn't for the work of the weavers"...a line from an old Irish song. That last line "spiritual blood will never coagulate"...thus the poetic pen will never run dry. A beautiful write Sara
