For Charlie Messina Before the Day turned into night poetry contest.

To submit a (New) poem on the theme "Before the day turned into night" Also, this line must appear somewhere in your poem. This must be written in iambic tretrameter/quatorzain (See my example- "Before The Day Turned Into Night" ITQ'S can be done differently but I'm going with using 14 lines/8 syllables per line only. In addition, stanza 1- must be a rhyme pattern of A,A,A,A. Stanza 2- B,B,B,B, Stanza 3-C,C,C,C, and the ending couplet- D,D.

Charlie the cowboy got a fright, when aliens started a fight. He prepared to save the town's plight, before the day turned into night. Guns by his side, rode into town, ready to battle till sundown. Saw the sheriff dressed as a clown and his deputy in a gown! In shock, asked "what's going on here?" "Wave the white flag and bring some cheer, because we've drank far too much beer." Adding, "we'll get drunk without fear!" The 'E.T's seemed a bit puzzled, but drank till the wine was guzzled!

Enjoyed this very creative challenge. You thought outside the box, hats off! I thought it was a tribute to our Charlie, and it is. I think you have something here, maybe a series of the wild west aliens & Charlies quests! It's refreshing, love it. Great Entry

Silent One, I hope you have a lot of luck with your contest submission. Reading the poem was a joy; it kept my attention throughout. An entertainingly imaginative poetry to peruse. Wondering If alcohol kills aliens in the same way it kills humans—gradually from cirrhosis, cardiac disease, dementia, etc.—or if the effects are unexpected.

Okay!! I wonder if the alcohol will destroy the aliens as well, you know slowly by degrees through cirrhosis, heart disease, brain atrophy, etc. or will they be different. I wonder if they had a fine old time or wish they had never seen any form of alcoholic drink. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K
