Sad, that we never get the chance to pluck ripe fruits from the tree. Before they are fully ripe, they will be eaten away by insects or squirrels, evn bats. Beautifully shaped haiku, dear Sara.

Went out to the fig bushes today, they are souring on the bush from all the rain and being devoured by all kinds of insects. I think they are flying upside down, backwards and then passing up for a while. Sara K

Nice poem in the shape of a fig, Sara. Insects like figs as much as humans, I think. Smiles ~ Blessings my friend, Bill

What was half eaten, the fig AND the insect? That is a very unhappy event if one was eating the fig....and insect. Finding half a bug halfway through a fig would make me rather unhappy ;) Otherwise, a nice solid meal for a bird or squirrel perhaps, fruit and protein, and since your pic shows the fruit still on the branch, I assume a human wasn't eating it :D

BJ, I try to avoid even touching those figs that look like they might have had contact with an insect because there could be a stinging insect hidden in there or even a fire ant. I always leave them hoping some insect or bird will finish them off instead of eating a whole new one. Thanks for the nice review of my work. Sara K

Andrea, it is a fig with the name of brown turkey fig. It is a deep brown. We have two large bushes/trees in our yard and another fig that I don't know the name of just fig bush. Sara K

I A, I eat brown turkey all during the season when they are getting ripe on the bush. Of course, I avoid the ones half-eaten by insects. I just leave it for insects to finish off. I am alive and I am not AI so it did not kill me. LOL..Sara K

Tom, wasps, yellow jackets, ants, bees, and hornets do love to come to the fig that have ripened on the bush/tree. There seems to be an extraordinary number of insects this year, the birds should be well fed. Sara K
