His arms wrapped around her frail body,
cradling her gently as he feels the warm sickness.
Her hair clings about her sweat-soaked face
as a fever burns with raging anger.
A need of wet snow,
to cool her brow to break the fever,
he refuses to let her die.
A fear within him sets,
knowing she will soon die.
She is his heart;
he wants and needs her to survive.
He holds on to her
for dear life against his chest
watching helplessly
as the woman he has loved is dying.
In his arms she lays still and quiet,
her breath leaving her body
to leave the world behind.
