Breakers Blow - Sentinel Stands
quatrain
Though strong gales topped the weather charts
in both speed and intensity;
the winds of our valiant spirits
went unmatched in sheer density.
Crowded in the ship’s hold we prayed
as freezing forces whipped us about.
We strained our eyes for the beacon's light
as hope chased the fear and the doubt.
Our captain, resolute on these waves
knew that old lighthouse was a rock.
Steady signal though dimmed by the storm
kept us safe as he sought the dock.
That evening we viewed on the news
what real danger we had endured.
We thanked God for his presence with us
and the sentinel which stood secured.
